Pursuing YOUR Passion
As I ponder the passions I will pursue this year and into the future, this quote becomes of particular interest to me.
I dubbed last year the “Year of the Gut Feeling”, for the reason that the biggest choices I had to make lay completely on my own self, and no other. This was daunting for me as in the past I have relied on the advice and input of others, but 2018 taught me that the only person who can truly make a decision about my life is me, because I am the person who will live the results of that decision.
So I resolved to become more in-tune with my Gut Feeling, not only in my larger life-choices, but also in the smaller, day-to-day moments. I now feel I am better at sensing the energy I get off a person, choosing what flavour of ice-cream I really feel like, and deciding which hobbies I want to put my time into. I will never ever ever be perfect, but it does take some weight off my shoulders to simply trust myself and the way I feel.
So today’s post is about following your OWN passions, your own thoughts, your own feelings. On your schooling, on your relationships, on your job and career, your friendships, your living situation and your creative desires.
“I wish I didn’t follow my gut,” said no one ever.
Get as much advice as you need from outside sources, but understand the significance of listening to your own intuition at the end of the day. You will always speak to people who will have strong opinions, but the loudest voices aren’t always the correct ones. They may want to help, but they will never know what it’s like to be you, or in your situation.
So next time you have to make a decision, imagine yourself in the different scenarios then ask if you feel comfortable, or uncomfortable, with each separate choice and how they may feel playing out. Then simply choose the one with more ease to the gut feeling, and don’t look back.
I find that practicing this daily tends to make my decision-making sharper, clearer and more accurate to my personality.
